The MAGIC MOVIE’s SCHOOL OF FILM, one of the largest community-based film arts programs in the country, offers the most comprehensive curriculum in media production and appreciation. Since its founding in 1972, the School has helped thousands of individuals to find and cultivate their personal voices as storytellers and to help create community around cinema’s potential to advance cultural understanding, reflect the human experience, and fuel social change. Its long-standing reputation as a leader in media arts education rests on its dynamic faculty of working filmmakers, emphasis on hands-on learning, open enrollment policy, and unique learning environment. In tandem with the Center’s year-round exhibition programs, students learn to make films while having the opportunity to see some of the most current and significant independent cinema available. 1 DAY INTRODUCTION TO DIGITAL FILMMAKING WORKSHOP
Our one day workshop – Introduction to Filmmaking class is the perfect place to start! In this hands-on intensive class, students are offered instruction in the basics of storytelling and screenwriting, pre-production and planning, film camera composition and shooting, lighting for the camera, editing techniques and Final Cut Pro basics, and strategies for launching a career in the filmmaking industry.

VISUAL STORYTELLING WORKSHOP
This intensive hands-on workshop teaches the fundamentals of digital filmmaking and visual storytelling. Students learn core filmmaking skills: basic composition, digital cinematography, “painting” with natural light, directing 101, producing, non-linear editing & post-production.
SHORT FILM WORKSHOP
Our 5-week and 3-month filmmaking workshops are hands-on classes designed to introduce students to the art and craft of filmmaking. These workshops are an excellent exploration into the language of cinema and the tools of digital filmmaking.
12 OR 15 MONTH DIGITAL FILMMAKING PROGRAM
The Digital Filmmaking Program is an intensive, hands-on program designed to prepare students for careers in the entertainment industry. This program teaches the art and craft of independent filmmaking by using an innovative project-based curriculum taught by award-winning filmmakers. Students create five of their own films and crew alongside professionals on a feature-length motion picture.
